Yesterday was Chinese New Year.
Wow, a year had passed and I'm a year older. Guess what I'm excited of Chinese New Year? Yup! It was collecting
the 'Ang Pow' ! ''Hey, Germaine, wake up! Quick
go and brush your teeth and change into the new clothes! Be quick, or we will be late.'' That's what my mum would say early
in the morning. Of course, I would grumble, but I would still wake up. After brushing my teeth and changing
into my new clothes we went out. But before going, I greeted my parents by saying, '' Gong xi fa cai''
and they gave me a ''Ang Pow''. I thanked them. My brother greeted them too. After
which, we went to my grandfather's house (paternal side). As my grandfather's house was just located a stone's thrown
away, we reached there very soon. Again, I greeted my grandfather, aunts and uncles, but this time round, I
said,'' Wish you gong xi fa cai, wan shi ru yi.'' All of them give a ''Ang Pow'' and I thanked them. I spent
my time there eating, drinking and watching TV. Hours passed, and I left the house to go to my grandmother's house
(maternal side). The time to arrive there was quite long. It took
us about 30 minutes. Although the time was long, but the thought of meeting my baby cousin, Owen and my cousins, caused
me to feel excited and I forgot all about travelling on a cab for a long duration. We arrived there at about 2pm. I
rang the doorbell and shouted, ''Grandmother, I'm here ! '' She opened the door and to my surprise, the place
was packed with people. I went to play with Owen. ''Grrrr......grrrrrr'' , came the sound. I knew that my stomach is
grumbling for food so, I went to eat. The food were mouth-watering. My grandparents had prepared all different kinds
of food for steamboat. "It's smell nice!" I murmured. I kept eating and eating until my stomach cannot hold anymore food. After
that, I had a talk with my cousin. We talked about the funny things that had happened in school and we burst into fits
of laughter. Soon, it was evening. It's time to have our dinner. We gathered around a table and had our dinner. The
scene was so heart warming. I hoped that time would stop at that moment. After
eating, my aunts helped to clear the mess, while my cousins and I went to pick up the litter on the floor. Soon,
it's time for us to go home as the time was ten o'clock. We bade each other farewell reluctantly.
Yesterday, I'm very happy. I hoped that everyday would be Chinese New Year as I could get 'Ang Pow' and I could
meet my cousins too !
